Planet Smoothie Launches 'Give a $1, Get a $1' to Benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Planet Smoothie, an up and coming smoothie company, is trying to make a difference by launching a program called "Give a $1, Get a $1". Between October 11 and November 14, customers can be rewarded for donating money to Susan G. Komen for the Cure by receiving a dollar off coupon to Planet Smoothie for every dollar they give. This isn't the first time Planet Smoothie has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure; they have pledged to raise a minimum of 100,000 dollars between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011. In addition, they have partnered with nutritionists from Susan G. Komen to create a smoothie called the Pink Promise Smoothie that is approved by breast health experts.

I think that this is great example of corporate social responsibility in that it not only benefits society, but that it also benefits the company. Because of this company, Susan G. Komen for the Cure will be able to invest at least 100,00 dollars more into researching ways to prevent cancer. At the same time, customers who donate at Planet Smoothie will be compelled to come back because they have coupons to spend, generating more sales for Planet Smoothie. While it seems that some companies start these programs simply to generate goodwill toward their company, it would appear that Planet Smoothie is actually trying to make a difference in that in addition to their contributions, they have developed a smoothie that brings awareness to breast cancer research.

  1. This is a great way to make a difference in society, not just for the cause but also for their advertisement. I think many other stores should do this not necessarily for this particular cause but many others. This way our world would be a better place soon.
