Eco-Friendly Fashion

The article “Eco Fashion Week Kicks Off: Ethical Clothing is Hot Stuff” talks about a new fashion week, a green one. Although, in the fashion world there are always fashion weeks annually around the world to kick off the world’s greatest styles and trends of designers, this one is new that adapts to the world’s new habits. Our country has taken a twist on things in the past couple years and have focused a lot on making our environment more clean and safe. Fashion, has taken their products to this level as well and there have been many clothing and shoe items that have demonstrated the “green” effect.

In this article, it states the three goals of this fashion week: 1-to celebrate responsible principles and style, 2- to identify and refine sustainable industry practices, and 3- to educate and inform about eco-friendly fashion. I think that the goals really highlight the corporate social responsibility of the fashion world and its products. The companies or fashion lines that participated in this fashion show, show how they not only contribute to promoting their own trends, but also bettering the community by contributing welfare to society.

There are many factors while making clothing that go hand in hand with our environment. The materials for the items used in this fashion week are: organic materials, vintage materials, vegan materials, and environmental printing supplies. These fashion lines use production locally, fairtrade practices, and do custom made products so that it cuts down mass production and wasted material.

I think that it is important that even factors of clothing and fashion in our environment we focus on what will go parallel with helping the environment. I think that events like the eco-friendly fashion week will make communities more and more aware of the steps that people are taking to better our world. Also, although clothing lines and companies are producing a lot of clothing and products, I think that this article illustrates the steps companies can take to better their products in production and for the environment in which illustrates corporate social responsibility.

  1. I think this is a great idea and the next level that fashion can participate. This will help the environment tremendously because in the fashion world, where to find the materials is very important.
However, to find enough materials to produce a line of clothing for just one season is very difficult. The sources should have the same recyclable materials in bulk.
Nevertheless, this is a great concept and it can work for smaller lines of clothing or special editions.
